    Living in nature

  • what is "Hanko-illustration"?

“Hanko-Illustration” is a name I call my illustrated works, which are created with eraser-made rubber stamp images. “Hanko” means a rubber stamp in Japanese. The animals, the plants, and the landscapes in my illustrations are carved separately on erasers, and the ink-stamped images are combined on a computer. The unintended blurring and the unevenness in color owing to the use of inkpads add a gentle touch to the illustration.

The soft colors in the illustrations are the colors of the sceneries of my hometown, Kesennuma.
